CAM-VAS
Photography & Storytelling
A Discover Design 2026 Competition
Conceptualized and Curated by The Design Venue
Individual Participation
OVERVIEW:
Do you like comprehending art in your own way?
Or do you enjoy speaking through photographs?
Cam-vas is a photography contest where you get to have fun doing both!
It gives you an opportunity to show the world how you see some of the most famous art pieces ever created - artworks that are often given one fixed, objective meaning.
As Edgar Degas said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
Art narrates stories, but somewhere along the way, we start sticking to just one version of them. So, this is your chance to break away from that and present your own perspective - or even build upon existing interpretations - visually through photographs!
Who can Participate?
-
Junior category : students studying in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12
-
Senior category : Students pursuing undergraduate degrees
(Individual participants only)
TASK:
-
Choose an iconic piece of art.
-
Understand its visual aspects like composition style, colours, mood, proportions and overall visual and emotional vibe.
-
Submit a collage of 5 photographs that depict that same vibe, mood and meaning along with a reference image of the original art piece of your choice with the necessary credits.
Note: The photographs should not relate to any direct references to the chosen art piece instead should be visual synonyms to the art piece individually or collectively. No digital editing, photoshop or use of Artificial Intelligence is allowed or appreciated. Refer to the provided examples for better understanding.
